The build marked the bank’s sixth annual ‘’Global Community Day’’, an event aimed at demonstrating staff commitment to service around the world.
During the build, the more than 100 staff worked on 10 houses and not the hot weather deterred them. The build menu catered for the varying interest’s of the team. By sun set volunteers had gotten an opportunity to dig the house foundation, cast slabs and raise the walls of 10.
For Jane Njeri Thuo a mother of nine children and who has lived in the tent for the last four years, the day marked an important milestone in her life and that of her children as she worked together with the team in raising the walls of the house.
As the day came to a close, it was evident that the spirit of volunteerism is deeply rooted in the lives of the organization employees. According to Zippy, a staff at the bank, the Global Community Day has over the years provided a platform for staff to engage in community activities geared to bringing positive change in the lives of the needy in the community.
