In a noble and timely project, hundreds of learners, some with disabilities, will now benefit from an improved learning environment courtesy of a project supported by LG Electronics in partnership with non-profit Habitat for Humanity Kenya (HFH Kenya). The initiative aims to improve learning infrastructure, water, sanitation and hygiene for 225 hearing-impaired children at Machakos School for the Deaf and 400 Early Childhood Development (ECD) learners at Kyumbi Primary School.
The Standard, September 2020: Sacco makes unlikely homeowners:
Unlike most of the housing cooperatives in the country where members make individual monetary contributions, Rumukandu Housing Cooperative members get their money from making and selling interlocking blocks to builders in the area. The idea to form the cooperative was birthed from a housing project done by Habitat for Humanity Kenya for poor and vulnerable families in Laikipia County.
The Habitat for Humanity (HFH) Kenya has built her a permanent self-contained house. The house comprises two bedrooms, a sitting room, kitchen and toilet. A 2,000 litre water storage tank has also been installed for her. “My children no longer fall ill every now and again since I moved into this new house. I thank the Habitat for Humanity Kenya for what it has done for me,” says Akinyi.

KBC Channel1, July 2020: The Kenya Housing gap
Habitat for Humanity Kenya contributes to bridging the housing gap in Kenya by constructing homes for vulnerable families in Homabay and Laikipia counties.
Habitat for Humanity, provided research and training to help develop a new type of loan called “Nyumba Smart” — meaning beautiful home — through a $6.6m project implemented together with the MasterCard Foundation.
