The Housing Forum is an initiative by HFH International in collaboration with partner organizations in different regions of the world i.e. Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, MENA, Asia & the Pacific, and Africa. The connecting thread among all housing forums is to promote policies, action, and innovations toward the sustainable provision of adequate housing amidst several global challenges, including the rise in refugees and migrants across the globe, and the increase in vulnerable populations due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic and the global economic recessions.
The Africa Habitat for Humanity region hosted the first-ever Housing Symposium in Nairobi, Kenya in May 2022. The Housing Forum focused on the future of African cities, and it brought together housing professionals, stakeholders, and local and central authorities to discuss strategies for inclusivity and resilience. Discussions emphasized the urgency needed to build adequate, affordable, and inclusive shelters that meet the demands of the African region.
This year’s Housing Forum in partnership with the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), themed “SOCIAL HABITAT FOR THE REGION”, aims to foster collaboration among professionals in the Built and Natural Environments and other industry players. The convention will focus on disseminating knowledge and developing solutions to the housing challenges faced by the majority of the population in Kenya and the region. The event is anticipated to generate specialized experiences that can be leveraged in advocacy activities, particularly within the context of the Affordable Housing Programme by the Government of Kenya.
