Vulnerable Group Housing

Mt. Elgon Housing Project

The Mt. Elgon Housing project was a partnership between HFH Kenya and Mt. Elgon Trust, a charitable arm of Mt. Elgon Orchards. The aim of the project was to provide 120 decent and affordable housing units and develop a resident association for the farm workers. Mukima Secondary School marks the spot

In 2013, a mapping exercise by Habitat for Humanity Kenya in Laikipia County, identified Mukima village as one of the areas of possible collaboration. Mukima village has a population of about 3,000 people of which 11-12% of them are youth aged between 15-20 years old. Resettling Internally Displaced Persons in Kenya

The violence that erupted after the much disputed elections in 2007 displaced more than 600,000 persons in Kenya and left more than 1,300 dead.
